There is a major problem right now in both protestant and novus ordo Catholic communities and it’s fueling the insanity we witness and experience everyday now in modern America. While so many religious and political “conservatives” see the chaos and breakdown in civilization occurring right before their eyes, they are at a loss to explain why it’s happening and what to do about it.
The best many of them can come up with is vote for the right politicians, or stop spending money at such and such store, etc. Others say we just need better public education and that will solve the problem.
Having wasted many years of my life in the political trenches, and seeing what goes on behind the scenes, even in the camp of the “good guys,” it is obvious to me that none of that is going to fix the insanity. The answer is found on Good Friday. What do I mean?
It’s becoming increasingly obvious with each passing day that the insanity poisoning our culture and consuming the world fueled by the devil’s desire for souls—the political persecutions, the trans-gay agenda, blood lust for abortion and contraception, and the general rejection of all notions of Christian morality—will not stop satisfying its insatiable appetite for victims until we answer Governor Pilate’s questions to Christ correctly.
The Gospel of John on Good Friday recounts the conversation between Pilate and Our Lord:
Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice. Pilate saith to him: What is truth? John 18:37-38
Notice Pilate asks “what is truth” right after he asks “Art thou a king then?”
Christ’s kingship, His social kingship, cannot be separated from the question of “what is truth?” To know the Truth, is to know that Christ is King, not just king of the universe as the modernist heretics like to say, but king of this world as well—His authority in civil affairs is supreme—even if the world refuses to acknowledge it.
Pope Pius XI taught the world that:
Christ as our Redeemer purchased the Church at the price of his own blood; as priest he offered himself, and continues to offer himself as a victim for our sins. Is it not evident, then, that his kingly dignity partakes in a manner of both these offices? Quas Primas, 16.
Yes, it was Our Lord that offered Himself up as the sacrificial victim for our sins, and in doing so, earned Himself the right to be called king. The King of all men.
Like the Jewish leaders who outright rejected the Truth staring them in the face, and like Pilate who knew better but compromised on the Truth in order to save his own hide from the wrath of Tiberius, we all must take some responsibility for the evil reigning in the world today. We asked for it, we brought it to ourselves through sin.
As I reflected on all these things this holy week, it became quite obvious to me that until we acknowledge what Christ did on the cross for us at calvary, nothing is going to change.
Nothing is going to change until the Traditional Latin Mass is restored in every parish throughout the world because that is the re-presentation, in real time, of Christ’s work on the cross.
Nothing is going to change until people convert and come into the Church, not the Modernist anti-version, but the real Church that Christ established for us to give us the graces we need to persevere in times of evil for the salvation of our souls.
Nothing is going to change until we accept not just some Truth, or portions of Truth—like the Modernists say is sufficient for salvation—but ALL TRUTH, all 100% of it. We may be sinners, but we can still accept the Truth.
I posted the reflection below on my Facebook feed. I have a lot of novus ordo Catholic and evangelical friends, who I hope this will strike a cord with. I also posted a video about the Mass and its scriptural basis. So far, my efforts seem to fall on deaf ears.
But until we get Christ’s sacrifice understood correctly and connect the dots to his social kingship that must be restored in the secular world, nothing substantive is going to change as the remnant of Western Christendom collapses on our watch.
A Good Friday Reflection
Imagine having a plastic bag with only a few pinholes allowing you to breathe tried around your head. Imagine the terror this would cause you as you sucked for air to stay alive and just receiving enough air to keep you alive and from passing out and while still being alert enough to experience the feeling of suffocation, ongoing, seemingly never ending for three hours.
This of course on top of having your shoulders, elbows and wrists slowly dislocated as they took on your full body weight because your feet were nailed into wood while being propped up and the muscles in your legs gave out while you attempted to push up and down against the force of gravity. Of course, you need to imagine this would all be taking place while you were completely stripped naked after having most of your skin ripped off—open and completely exposed to the public for all to see, many of whom thought it funny and mocked you.
You don’t have to imagine too much because that’s what happened to Jesus Christ on this day 2000 years ago. And now place yourself as a spectator watching this, at the foot of the cross, stuffing your face with hotdogs and beer, laughing and joking, and quite frankly not giving a crap about any of it. Well, that’s the attitude of most Americans today regardless of whether they call themselves Christians or not.
Because you know what? It’s much more convenient and easier to build up a bank account and stroke your own ego when you tell others to forget about Good Friday and just show up for an easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday so we can discuss how much God loves us while we insult and offend Him every day.
Pilate asks Christ, “what is Truth?” That is a question we all need to answer today, and perhaps accept the reality that it was not just the Jews and Romans forcing Christ to die in this fashion, BUT OURSELVES. All of us did this to Christ and His blood is on our hands with every single little sin, as we just scourge the Passover victim a little more—inch by slow inch.
Let’s all keep this in mind today on Good Friday and maybe instead of laughing, mocking and shoving our faces with food, take a day to FAST COMPLETELY from all food and drink (other than water), get down on our knees in humility and ask forgiveness for what we did to Christ, and reflect on the Christ’s Passion. Because only then will His resurrection on Sunday have any real meaning to you.
