August 25 is the Feast Day of St. Louis IX, King of France. Now is a great time to reflect on this saint. He shows us it is possible to have real leaders of Christian virtue, who serve the interests of justice and charity with humility and use authority to defend the common good against the forces of tyranny.
King St. Louis IX reigned in France from 1226 to 1270. He was a holy and Catholic king. He built numerous holy sites, hospitals, and homes for reformed prostitutes. Like a good father to his people, he reigned over Catholic France strictly, but justly. As a faithful Catholic, he allowed his faith to guide him in ensuring Christian principles of charity were maintained, while guaranteeing justice for those who sought to take advantage of others, such as those lending money at usurious rates and spreading of doctrinal heresies.
Faithful to his title “Most Christian King,” St. Louis fulfilled his military duties on behalf of the Church and participated in the Crusades, even surviving being captured for a time in Egypt.
While no question a warrior, he was still a family man. St. Louis married Marguerite of Provenceat at 19 years old and had eleven children with her. St. Louis is famous for his letters to his son Phillip, guiding him in morals and virtue. At the heart and center of St. Louis’ guidance was always a focus on being loyal to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.
So, the point is, we have in St. Louis, an example, first and foremost, of a servant of Jesus Christ and His Church. He was a man devoted to his people as king, husband, father to his children, and the Catholic faithful. St. Louis was a “man’s man” and for this we can truly appreciate that his image remains standing strong in the center of the United States (seen above), which has in so many ways rejected Christ and His Church. St. Louis refuses to stand down, even long after his death.
As this nation supposedly built on Christian values collapses into third-world banana republicanism, under the overlordship of globalist tyrants, let us pray to St. Louis that we may be relieved from this present tyranny, and that a true Christian kingdom may be established and dedicated once again to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
