Today is the Feast Day of Christ the King on the traditional Catholic liturgical calendar. It is one of my favorite feast days. Previously, I explained how Modernists tried to destroy this feast and replace it with a new one on a different date with a similar name on the Novus Ordo calendar. But it is also election season here in the United States. So this year, I will reflect on Christ the King in election season.
Choosing Between the Lesser of Two Evils
Here, in Colorado, we are faced with some very bad choices. One, in particular, is the U.S. Senate race. On one hand is the incumbent Michael Bennett, who is your typical Democrat, tows the party line, votes with Joe Biden’s Build Back Better campaign, and of course, loves abortion.
Running against Bennett is the Republican candidate, Joe O’Dea. He claims to be a Roman Catholic. He also supports the idea that women should be free to abort their babies up to twenty (20) weeks in the womb. This issue is so important to him, that he actually paid for ads touting his support for abortion.
It does not end there with Mr. O’Dea. He also disagreed with the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, he thinks climate change is man-caused and must be addressed with government regulation, he supports Obamacare, he supports same-sex “marriage,” he supports Ukraine and spending $30 billion on that war, he thinks Biden won the last election fair and square and supports current federal restrictions on possessing firearms. All these issues were highlighted on his own website, which you can check out for yourself.
There is also a third-party candidate in this race. Brian Peotter is running as a Libertarian and is opposed to abortion! Great start! The problem with Mr. Peotter is that he also believes parents should be able to sell their children in adoptions. I guess he believes that if parents can make some money off conceiving and selling children, it may lower abortion rates. This was also an issue he decided to highlight on his own website, so you can check it out for yourself.
This is the choice we have in the State of Colorado for U.S. Senate. Are any of these candidates a good option? Of course, not. If you vote for any of them you are cooperating with evil, at least on a material level.
Now, it is true, that traditional Catholic moral teaching permits a voter to choose the lesser of two evils when there is no other choice available. These candidates, in my eyes, are just about as equally as bad, so I probably will just refrain from voting in this particular race.
But this begs the question, why is it that year after year, traditional Catholics, people of faith, are routinely forced to choose between the lesser of two evils? And of course, nothing ever seems to change for the better.
Rejection of Christ’s Kingship Equals Bad Politics
Tying this back to the Feast Day, the answer should be obvious that we do not live in a nation that is subservient to Christ the King. The Church, the Gospels, Sacred Tradition—all of it has been rejected, at least on a national level.
We see this in our political, legal and cultural institutions. Rejection of Christ’s Kingship and His influence is everywhere. Paganism permeates the air we breathe and poisons our souls every day. It is almost impossible to avoid or get away from it. Toxic paganism, not just ignorance but a positive rejection of Christianity, is the status quo in the United States of America.
It should be no surprise that our elections are tainted. Not just with the way they are conducted but with the lousy candidates we have to choose from.
And yet, year after year, we see “conservative” Republicans tell us, over and over, that if we just hold our nose and continue to vote for the lesser of two evils, things will begin to improve. “We might just pick up an extra judge”, or “our tax rates might be lowered,” then we hear “we can’t expect purity in all our candidates—the system is built on compromise!” Yea—that’s the system.
Let me ask you something. Do you think Jesus Christ is happy with the current state of the political system in the United States of America? Do you think he is happy with the idea of separation of Church and state? Do you think He believes it is healthy for us to choose between the lesser of two evils, year after year?
It seems to me, the answer is NO. And then we have to ask ourselves, what is the solution? Is the solution voting for more Republicans or less bad candidates because they are the lesser of two evils? Do you think the pendulum in this nation will shift towards one grounded in authentic Christianity if we keep voting for people like Mr. O’Dea I discussed above? Again, the answer is obviously NO.
A Plan for Restoring the Kingship of Christ
The solution must be lie with Jesus Christ and restoring His Kingship in this land. And I say “this land” because on its current projection, I do not see the USA making it another century, at least as we know it. The financial and moral situation in this nation, grounded on sin, globalism, and usury, cannot simply continue on its current course before inevitable collapse. And no political party in this nation is interested in actually avoiding this outcome because the political system is designed on purpose to perpetuate it.
And as someone who is an anti-revolutionary by nature, I do not support any uprising. It’s not actually even needed. This nation, built on a foundation of sand, will collapse under its own weight and we need to be prepared to build up a new kingdom when it does. How or when this all happens, I just do not know. But it might happen in my lifetime—that is how dire things seem right now.
But what I do know, is that Christ also gives his Church and the faithful members of His Church, even if they are small and miniscule in number, the tools to build up His Kingdom. I will mention five of them, and not necessarily in chronological order:
1. Traditional Latin Mass (TLM). No nation can succeed unless Christ is at the center of it, and His sacrifice at Calvary is how we bring Christ back to the center. I am of course speaking of the Mass of the Ages, the Traditional Latin Mass, not the Protestantized novus ordo Mass that likely will not survive any type of civilizational collapse anyway. Christ’s Kingship, and the obedience we owe Him, is intimately tied to His work on the Cross. Restoration of the TLM in all the nation’s churches is key.
2. Integralism. A political system integrated with (not opposed to) the authentic Roman Catholic Church and her authentic teachings is also needed. We see an early example of this with King St. Louis IX in thirteenth century France. It can be done and is necessary for a healthy society and the salvation of souls. Our moral laws must influence our civil ones—this can never be achieved by separating Church and State.
3. Evangelization and Conversions. A concerted effort to convert souls to the faith is required. Sadly, we live in a toxic pagan land. This will require saints like we never have seen before in the history of the Church to go out into the world to convert souls. It will be a missionary effort unlike times past because when Christianity spread around the world the first time, the pagans had their own gods but were not diametrically opposed to Christianity. Today, paganism in the modern world includes a positive rejection of Christianity. This additional obstacle to conversions will have to be overcome.
4. Christian Monarchy. We will need to fundamentally restructure our political system away from the Enlightenment based, anti-Christian system we currently operate under. Ideally, as St. Thomas Aquinas teaches, a Christian monarchy is the best form of government and one we should strive for in the long run. This can include elements of voter participation, but these days of corrupted, purchased elections with political parties who force us into choosing between evils must, and will naturally, come to an end once much of the population is converted.
5. Supernatural Intervention. We must remember on this Feast Day of Christ the King that even though our world may reject Him now, that does not mean his authority or jurisdiction over this land is in any way negated. We must seek the intercession of saints, pray and fast for Christ’s Kingship to be restored. Unlike the pagans and Modernists in the Church, we do not think we can achieve greatness on our own or without God. We cannot do so without grace and supernational help. It is an uphill battle for sure, but with supernatural intervention, anything is possible.
Act of Consecration of the Human Race
Christ is still with us and still in charge. This should bring us hope on this Feast Day. I will conclude with an Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Pope Pius XI, in his encycical Quas Primas, requested this consecration be recited when he instituted the feast in 1925.
Most Sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but to be more surely united to Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates ourselves today to Thy Most Sacred Heart.
Many indeed have never known Thee; Many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful children, who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children, who have abandoned Thee; Grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.
Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.
Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of the race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.
Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry; praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; To it be glory and honor forever.
